How To Make Pay-Per-Click Advertising Work For You

You can reap great rewards with this online advertising strategy

When Google created the pay-per-click (PPC) advertising program on their search engine, the online marketing playing field had finally been leveled. For the first time, small businesses and individuals could compete with corporate giants for the attention of online consumers. In fact, the small website operators fared much better with their ability to get consumers to take action than the business behemoths.

There is, however, a grave danger to jumping blindly into the PPC waters. To make the PPC concept work, there are a number of systematic steps and strategies that must be employed to be successful. Without a carefully planned PPC marketing strategy, you can break the bank in the blink of an eye. How do you think I know that? I learned the hard way.

There is quite a bit involved in using PPC to generate revenues, but it is a simple, systematic process that works. It isn’t easy, but it is simple once you know how it all works. I have outlined below the key areas that need to be perfected in order for PPC to work at it’s optimum.

Keywords are key

Your starting point involves using the right keywords. You need to determine what keywords your prospects or customers would type into a search engine to find your product or service. There are free online services that will provide you with a list of all the words and phrases people type to find what they are looking for.

Once you have identified the keywords you are going to use (make sure that these words and phrases appear throughout your website pages), group them into like categories. Then you go to the search engines and sign-up for a PPC account.

Pay-Per-Click bidding is tricky:

Bidding on your keywords is critically important and will take some experimentation, monitoring, and time to perfect. The search engines offer a suggested bid price for each keyword phrase, but you don’t have to accept it. Just pick the daily budget that you can afford for now and an affordable bid amount to test the waters.

Yahoo! shows you the five current highest bids so that you always know who’s paying what to be in that position. If you want to be higher, just bid more. Google does not show you the other bids, but they offer a table that gives you an expected page position based on the amount that you entered.

Test your ads regularly

One great feature of the search engines’ PPC programs is the ability to run more than one ad. Google, for instance, will alternately run two or more ads concurrently. This allows you to test different ads and track their performance over a specified period. The poor performing ad or ads can then be replaced with new ads. This way you always have your best foot forward and enjoy better results from your advertising dollars.

Track your results

In order to determine which of your keywords people are clicking on and what ads are performing, you need to track the actions taking place behind the scenes. The search engines have tracking options for you that allow you to monitor keyword performance.

Taking these four areas into consideration as the backbone of prudent pay-per-click advertising planning, you can enjoy a highly profitable revenue stream where your return on investment can exceed anything that you have experienced before with your business or profession. Taking one step at a time through this systematic process will almost guarantee your success in online marketing.

Do remember, however, that your successful PPC campaign is only going to be a money pit if your website cannot get your visitors to take the action that you want them to, be it to fill out a form or to make a sale. A website that keeps visitors and lets them find what they are looking for easily is the second part of the equation for a fruitful online marketing strategy.

If your website doesn’t do that, you are wasting all your PPC money. Your PPC success is useless if your website doesn’t do it’s job. Here, again, you can find help online. There are plenty where you will find helpful information on marketing on the internet. That site, by the way, is a good example of a website that attracts and keeps visitors and motivates them to take action.

Take the plunge and learn about the value of pay-per-click or hire an expert and get your website out in front of the millions of people and companies looking for your products or services online. It will be money and time well-spent. How do you think I know that?

Marketing Plan Tip: Create A Success Poster

Here’s a fun way to help you achieve your goals that really works. Plus it’s a little more exciting than just writing down a few goals, or an objective, in your marketing plan.

This method actually brings them to life, and puts them in front of you everyday so you’re constantly focused on making them happen.

Create what I call a “Success Poster”

What’s a Success Poster?

It’s a visual or graphic representation of your vision of success.

First You Need To Create A Vision

The first step in creating a success poster is to sit down, close your eyes and envision the success you want to create with your business.

Ask yourself what you want your business to look like one year from today.

Think in terms of your ideal success. Dream big. Think of all the little things you would love to have happen in your business and in your life.

Think about how many clients you’ll be helping and the material results of your success.

Consider what other results you’d love to have … coverage of your business in the news media perhaps?

Picture yourself delivering your products or services … what does that look like in your ideal world?

The Second Step is to Create Your Poster

Get a piece of paper or cardstock and some colored markers or crayons.

The size or your poster is up to you. Just pick a size you can easily post on a bulletin board or the wall above your workspace. The idea is to have it somewhere you can see it every day.

On the paper, draw elements of what you envisioned. Write words. Create a picture that represents all the success you see yourself achieving in the next year. Make it colorful. Make it fun. Make it represent YOUR dream.

I did this exercise last January and my poster is hanging on a bulletin board right above my computer. Every day as I work, I can easily look up and see my success poster and all the vignettes representing my success that I set as goals at the beginning of the year.

It’s Your “Inspiration Magnet”

It’s wonderful inspiration to see these visions of success as I work on my business. And the best part is, they’re coming true!

It’s also great when I’m having a tough week. Because I can always look up and remember why I’m working so hard. It reminds me of what I’m trying to create.

It reminds me of the people I’m helping. And, the smiling faces of my family, my clients and ME! And ultimately it reminds me of the success I know I will achieve - I know it’s inevitable and is just a matter of time.

Use Your Success Poster to Write Your Goals

From your vision and your success poster, you should create written goals, and one or two measurable objectives. And then you should create a marketing plan to get you from where you are right now, to this place you have envisioned.

This process brings your goal of success to life. It makes it “real,” making it much easier to work toward than just a couple of sentences written on a piece of paper.

It Also Uses the Law of Attraction

If you understand the Law of Attraction, you know what you focus on expands. When you’re in sync with the good, positive vibration your vision creates, things seem to magically happen to move you in the direction of that vision. I’m not sure how it works, but it does!

I’ve seen evidence of it in my life and with others.

Unfortunately, the opposite is also true. Spend all your time focusing on what you don’t have or what’s not happening with your business and guess what? You’ll perpetuate that. Yuck!

The Choice is Yours

I say go for the gusto and dream big. Then keep your eyes and your mind glued to that vision and watch it come true!

4 Killer Steps To Create An AdSense Empire - Doing It The Right Way!

So how much money can you really make with AdSense? With all the hype that there has been recently, you could be forgiven for being a wee bit skeptical about some of the claims. Because, let’s face it. Those e-books and courses that offer untold riches in AdSense for just $97 might sound like they’re shooting themselves in the foot. After all, if I’m making $20,000 a month with my magic recipe, do I really want to let you into my secret for such a small one-time fee?

So where is the truth? Let’s take a critical but positive view of the AdSense opportunity.

1. Can you make money with AdSense?
Yes. But not necessarily that much. AdSense, as you know, is the system where Google displays ads on your site or blog, and you get paid a share of the revenue when people click on them. Sometimes advertisers are prepared to pay a lot to get people to click on their ads, but more often than not they are savvy about costs and return on investment. The net result is that a click on an ad will get you cents rather than dollars.

2. So how can you make more money with AdSense?
Maybe, just maybe, by buying an ebook and applying the information inside. You may be best off by checking out the titles that have built a strong reputation and that over the past months have come down in price somewhat (significantly lower than the $97 mentioned above). But it’s still no guarantee of success and you can also consult what Google has to advise on the matter for free. Otherwise, more money comes from more (legal) clicks. A word of warning before the next paragraph. Google has all sorts of ways to detect if people are clicking on their own ads, deliberately pointing visitors towards ads and so on. They can terminate your AdSense account in a blink if they think they have cause to do so.

3. Making content for AdSense
Pick a market that allows for a reasonable ad spend from the advertisers and good traffic to your site. Write your content to appeal to visitors and search engines. It’s the quality of your content that impacts the click through rate on your site. Strong hint: find keywords that have high demand from users and low supply from other web pages. AdSense revenues per site tend to be low, so you may want to consider making a number of websites in this way. AdSense can be labor intensive because of this, as you keep on producing new websites, partially to replace other websites that performed for a while and then died.

4. Optimizing the content for AdSense
Once again, check out what Google says themselves about optimizing AdSense on your site or blog. It’s simple, relevant advice and it’s free from their site. Some of the basics so far include things like using the large block or the wide skyscraper format (you’ll see how these are defined on Google’s site) as well as sticking to classic colors for the link (blue) and the url (black). Don’t get fancy, at least not at the beginning. When you have a few sites (think in terms of 20 pages of content per site) generating AdSense revenue, then you can make one or two more to experiment with.
